EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS:
AMERICA'S CHILDREN
(NBC) 8 P.M. Saturday

This heart-warming compilation of business efforts to help disadvantaged children succeeds despite occasional artificiality. The public relations aspects are too apparent and make for some uncomfortable moments. However, the story of Lisa lends realism to the claims of the program.

Overall, the individual stories are well-chosen and presented. The participants, both children and business representatives, are wonderfully articulate.

The script, written by Bob Niemack and Mark Baldwin, is smooth and descriptive with out being overly expository. Katie Couric does a good job as host.

The production values are superb. Director Bob Niemack and DPs Edward Marritz and Jerry Gonzalez bring in high-quality images, quite an achievement considering some of the difficult location situations. The lighting is exceptional.

Th audio fares somewhat less well, proving more fragile to capture than the visuals. Music by Robert Boress is sparing and chosen well.
